OS X 10.10 Yosemite Has anyone figured out how to stop Google's autoupdate process (ksfetch) from tripping LS nonstop? It spawns multiple new temporary processes when checking for updates, and LS requires a path to a specific process file to block it. This has made LS unusable for me since uninstalling all Google products isn't an option for me. Let us know in the comments if you give Little Snitch a try. Little Snitch tells you when a program tries to send info to the Internet so you can see what's going on in the background! Yes, lots. It's amazing what makes (/tries to make) connections over the course of a day. So, I installed it, and quickly went on setting it up. Then I started looking for some rule groups to subscribe to. And there weren't many lying around.

Murus Lite is the entry level firewall front end. Everybody can download it and use it for free. It features inbound filtering and logging and can be used to protect services running on the Mac. Despite being free Murus Lite is not a tryout or demo. It is a full featured app and is a good starting point for the novice user. The centerpiece is a global map, showing you effectively in real time all the recent and active connections from your system to the IP-derived or otherwise guessed locations of the endpoints around the world. It’s a little terrifying, and might cause you to flip some Allow switches to Deny. Don’t take it overseriously, though: many companies maintain data centers worldwide, and the “closest” path for a given resource could be somewhere far from you at any given moment. In other cases, software checks in with global endpoints, without sending substantive data. Skype seems to ping nodes around the world, but send literally on the order of bytes, not even kilobytes. Little Snitch only stops outgoing connections.I haven't seen this, I've got plenty of Adobe apps installed, and Little Snitch has blocked them fine. My hosts list is also fine. Do you have a link to an example of this happening? That is what I meant.I know comments point out fakes. That is how I know there are tons of fakes out there. The fact that you have a database of company IPs means they do post fakes. That was all I was trying to say and I suspect that goes makes sense that they wouldn't be allowed to spread bad software no one is. But it happens. Just like people are allowed to download software they didn't pay for. You must log in to answer this question. I'm reluctant to deny unfamiliar system apps in case I break something and later have to spend a half a day tracking down mysterious behavior. Left picture: Real Time Monitor. Right picture: Rules set in the preferences. Well worth the money IMO.
